In this video you can enjoy the cab ride on the Steam Locomotive (Maria Fumaça) called Trem Caiçara that is running from Morretes to Antonina in Paraná, Brazil, in 4K/60 frames per second. Step into the cab of Brazil’s oldest operational steam locomotive for a nostalgic journey through the lush Atlantic rainforest of Paraná. This ride follows the historic Estrada de Ferro Dona Isabel, inaugurated in 1892, on the scenic 16-kilometer branch line connecting Morretes to the coastal port of Antonina. Our train, the beautifully preserved Mogul No. 11, built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1884, powers gracefully along the single-track heritage line operated by "Associação Brasileira de Preservação Ferroviária (ABPF)". As we depart from Morretes, the train gently descends through dense green vegetation, passing over small bridges, creeks and mangrove wetlands that form part of the Serra do Mar ecosystem—one of the most biodiverse regions in Brazil. The rhythm of the steam engine blends with the sounds of nature as we traverse through the tranquil coastal landscape toward Antonina. Along the way, glimpses of the Atlantic Forest canopy and distant mountain ridges frame the view from the cab, offering a vivid reminder of the engineering feats that connected the interior of Paraná to its historic ports more than a century ago. The journey concludes at Antonina Station, lovingly restored and surrounded by colonial architecture and cobbled streets that once bustled with coffee and goods bound for export. More than a train ride, this experience is a celebration of living railway heritage—a tribute to the pioneers who built Brazil’s early railways and to the volunteers who keep their spirit alive today.
